Getting a truck in and back out around the Green takes planning. The streets by First and Main are narrow and tree-lined, with nowhere good to stage a wrecker, so we often work from a side street and walk the gear in. Out on SR 91 and 303 it's the opposite problem: faster traffic, and a light cycle downtown that backs up in a hurry if you set up in the wrong lane.
The Norfolk Southern crossings are where we don't take chances. Driveways here run long and private, usually paved with something the owner cares about, so the flatbed and soft straps come out by default.
What makes a Hudson tow different
My car stalled on a railroad crossing. What now?
Get everyone well away from the tracks, then call the emergency number on the blue sign at the crossing — that reaches the railroad so they can hold trains. Call us after that.
Can you load a car in my driveway without wrecking it?
Tell dispatch if it's pavers, stamped concrete, or a tight turnaround. Often we'll winch the car down and load at the street instead.
