Almost nothing here is a parking-lot hookup. Calls come off I-77 or the SR 82 interchange, and once a vehicle leaves the pavement it's usually down a wooded bank. That's winch work — line out, find an anchor, pull it back up.
Riverview Road is its own problem. It drops into the Cuyahoga Valley along the river and floods, and it's been closed at Vaughn for high water. The valley roads off 82 are steep, narrow and dark under heavy tree cover.
This is I-77 corridor coverage
It's our far northern edge, and that same I-77 runs straight down into Akron. For a flat tire in a driveway, a Cleveland-side truck is closer, and we'll say so.
Can you reach a car on Riverview Road when it's flooded?
Not through standing water. When it's closed at Vaughn we approach from the open end or wait for it to reopen.
My car went off a valley road into the trees. Can you get it out?
Usually. It's a winch recovery off those steep banks, then onto the flatbed. Tell dispatch how far down it is and whether it's on its side.
