A wheel bearing lets go on the Howe Avenue ramp and the car ends up half on the shoulder of Route 8, traffic doing 65 past the driver's door. Normal call here. The Graham Road and Broad Boulevard exits keep us busy up to Turnpike Exit 180, and on those shoulders we load quick rather than pretty.
Off the highway it changes. Howe at Chapel Hill is big-box retail, so mostly private-lot work. Apartments along Bailey Road put cars on the street overnight, which matters when the city calls a snow ban, like the one from 10 p.m. Jan 24 into Wednesday morning during Winter Storm Fern.
Route 8, the gorge roads, and the Falls lots
My car got towed in a snow parking ban. Now what?
Ban tows go to the city impound, so the release runs through them, not us. Once it's cleared we'll haul it home, running or not.
Can you get down the valley roads by Gorge Metro Park?
Yes. They're steep and narrow, so we send the truck that fits. If Akron-Peninsula is flooded shut between Ira and Bolanz, we come in the other end.
